It’s like an evening, like the good old, successful times for Basel. The times when Basel dominated the national championship, but also gave great chances on the European stage and made big teams on the continent stumble. Luck is on FCB’s side

The gap in the first leg was finally made up and goaltender Marvin Hitz was once again the deciding figure in the game with several saves.

Luck favored the Baslerites: when Trabzonspor allegedly equalized the score an hour later, the referee, having studied the video, fixed an offside position. After that, numerous Turkish fans allegedly applauded again, but again the Turkish player was offside.

Basel’s European journey continues into the 1/8 finals. March 9, first at home against Bratislava Slovan, and a week later on the road.
