Noel Le Graet, president of the French Football Federation, resigns
Noel Le Graet, president of the French Football Federation (FFF), has resigned from his post. In a written statement from the FFF, “Le Graet announced his decision to resign from the Board of Directors of the French Football Federation on Tuesday, February 28,” it was reported.
In the statement, it was stated that FFF Vice President Philippe Diallo will serve as the FFF’s interim president until June 10, 2023.
THERE IS A SEXUAL HARASSMENT LAWSUIT
In January, Paris prosecutors launched an investigation into sexual harassment allegations against Le Graet. The investigation against Le Graet, 81, is said to be based on allegations of sexual harassment in the French press.
Finally, the football coach Sonia Souid, in an interview with the L’Equipe newspaper and the RMC radio channel, said: “I went to Le Graet’s apartment. He said that if I wanted help from him, I also had to let him do some things for me.”
HIS WORDS ABOUT ZIDANE
Noel Le Graet first provoked reactions with his remarks about former French soccer star Zinedine Zidane.
Speaking to the national press about Zidane’s potential to coach for the national team during his presidency, Le Graet said: “Zidane did not try to contact me. He wouldn’t answer the phone even if he called. We’ve never met him,” he said.
The French Ministry of Sports, Spain’s Real Madrid, French star Kylian Mbappé and many footballers criticized Le Graet for his statements about Zidane. The FFF, for its part, extended the contract of coach Didier Deschamps, who played the second consecutive final with the team at the Qatar World Cup, until 2026. (AA)
