Arsenal sign Jorginho from Chelsea
On the last day of the English Premier League’s interim transfer window, the transfer took place between two arch-rivals. League leaders Arsenal have signed Jorginho, whose end-of-season contract with Chelsea is set to expire.
The 31-year-old Brazilian-Italian midfielder signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with his new team while transferring to Arsenal for £12m.
After the injury to Mohamed Elneny, the only alternative and the occasional bad performance by Partey, Mikel Arteta asked for reinforcements in the spinal cord. After Arsenal’s £70m offer for Brighton’s Moisés Caicedo was rejected, the London team turned their attention to the other City team’s midfield.
Jorginho, who will be discredited by the arrival of Enzo Fernández, also told the board that he wanted to leave the team.
Jorginho managed to win both the Champions League and the Europa League with Chelsea.
