Critical victory against Lens Paris Saint-Germain
Ridden to the top of matchday 17 of the French First Football League (Ligue 1), Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) lost 3-1 away to their nearest rival Lens. Savoring their first defeat in the league, PSG entered the field without Lionel Messi, who is out for the World Cup, and Neymar, who has a suspension card.
Lens started the game fast and took the lead with Przemysław Frankowski’s goal in the 5th minute. 3 minutes after this golden finish, Hugo Ekitike brought his team an equalizer with the goal he scored. During the 28th minute of the game, Lois Openda put the host Lens ahead again. The first half ended with Lens winning 2-1.
Starting the second half fast, Lens doubled the lead with Alexis Claude-Maurice in the 47th minute. With no other goal coming in the remaining minutes, Lens won the match 3–1.
With this triumph, Lens scored 40, while the leader PSG stayed at 44 points.
