Dejan Lovren returns to Olympic Lyon

Olimpik de Lyon, one of the teams in the French First Soccer League (Ligue 1), incorporated former player Dejan Lovren into its squad.

In the statement issued by the club, it was indicated that a 2.5-year contract was signed with the 33-year-old player who played for the Russian Zenit team. According to reports in the French press, Olympique de Lyon paid 2 million euros for the Croatian national defender.

Lovren, who moved from Dinamo Zagreb, where he grew up from his youth, to Olympic Lyon in 2010, has scored 3 goals in 102 appearances. The experienced player, who rocked the net 5 times in 78 games for the Croatian National Team, continued his career for many years in Southampton and Liverpool after the French representative.

Olimpik Lyon under Laurent Blanc, who have pulled away from the race to the top of the league, are in eighth place with 24 points at the end of 17 weeks. (AA)
