Ken Block died in the accident
American rally driver Ken Block has died at the age of 55 as a result of a snowmobile accident.
According to US press reports, the accident took place in Wasatch County, Utah. The Hoonigan team, founded by Ken Block, said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we confirm that Ken Block has passed away due to a snowmobile accident. Ken was a visionary, pioneer and icon. Above all, he was father and wife. We will miss him very much.”
Block finished second in the Americas Rally Championship in 2006, 2008 and 2013 and has also competed in the World Rally Championship and World Rallycross Championship.
Rising in popularity with the Gymkhana Grid races he pioneered in 2010, Block was also known for his drift videos posted on social media. (AA)
