Bad news from Pele
It has been announced that the state of health of the legendary Brazilian soccer player Pelé, who has been treated for colon cancer for more than a year, has deteriorated.
In the statement issued by the Albert Einstein Hospital, where Pelé stayed in Sao Paulo, it was indicated that the 82-year-old soccer player’s cancer had advanced and needed more attention due to kidney and heart diseases.
Pelé’s daughter, Kely Nascimento, who shared on social media, stated that they will not be able to spend Christmas at home this year and stated that they decided it would be better to stay in the hospital after their evaluation with the doctors.
Pele’s cancer, which was removed from his large intestine in September 2021, was found to have spread to his lungs, liver and intestines earlier this year. The legendary soccer player, who received regular treatment and was hospitalized for chemotherapy last month, was reported to be stable in health. Earlier this month, it was announced that Pelé did not respond to chemotherapy and was taken to hospice care.
Shown as one of the best in football history, Pelé is the only player to win the World Cup 3 times (1958, 1962, 1970). (AA)
