Morocco coach Walid Regragui: We don’t want to wait another 40 years
Morocco will face France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-final match tomorrow at 22:00 CEST at Al Bayt Stadium. In the press conference held before the game, the Moroccan coach Walid Regragui made some statements.
Giving information about the latest situation of the team, Regragui said: “We have players with minor injuries in the team, but they are improving every day. We have a very high-level medical team. We receive good news every day. At the moment, I can’t say that none of my players are going to play definitively, those who are 100 percent will start the game, he said.
“WE HAVE NO ANTIMBAPPE PLAN”
Stating that they will not make a special plan for France’s star player Kylian Mbappe, the experienced coach said: “The judge knows Mbappe better than I do. We will not have an anti-Mbappé plan. The team is not just about him. Griezmann’s level of play between regions is incredible. Hakimi is a great champion, so I’m not worried.” he used the phrases.
“THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD ELIMINATE US, BUT…”
Stating that despite being in the semi-finals, the team has motivation to achieve more, Walid Regragui said: “People started to think that we were tired after the matches we played. If you are in the semifinals of the World Cup, you cannot be tired. We are still hungry to achieve more. We beat a lot of the best teams. Before every match, people thought we would be knocked out, but we’re still here. We are getting closer to our dreams and we will fight to reach them”. he said.
“UNABLE!”
Regragui, who also spoke about the chances of winning the World Cup, said: “We are open. I don’t know if it will be enough, but we want Africa to be on top of the world. I know we are not favourites, but we are confident. You may think this is crazy, but a little crazy is okay. Our chances of winning the World Cup were 1 percent before the tournament started. Now it is 12 percent, we will try to increase this percentage even more”. he said.
“WE ARE READY TO DO WHATEVER”
Emphasizing that they only have 2 games left to win the World Cup, Regragui stated that they want to make the most of their opportunities, saying, “We want to reach the final and win. We are ready to do everything possible to achieve this goal. Tomorrow we will have extraordinary energy. We are not tired, we will run tomorrow. We have an opportunity, we don’t want to waste it, wait another 40 years,” he made the statement.
“I HOPE FRANCE DOES NOT RESPECT US”
Noting that the semi-finals were not enough for them, the experienced coach said: “We have come to change the mentality of our continent. If we say that the semifinals are enough, I do not agree with this opinion. We want to be in the final. I hope France will not respect us because if they do it will be difficult for them,” he said.
20 THOUSAND FASLI WILL BE ON THE GRANDSTAND
Walid Regragui, in his statement at the press conference, stated that tomorrow there will be at least 20,000 Moroccan fans in the Al Bayt stadium. Referring to this situation, the experienced coach said: “Tomorrow we will play at home. This makes us very happy.” he used the phrases.
