Pele’s first statement

Legendary Brazilian soccer player Pelé, who was taken to the hospital, shared a post on his social media account about his health.

Pelé shared on his Instagram account the message “Get well soon” written for him on an electronic billboard in a building in Qatar, where the 2022 FIFA World Cup is taking place.

Pele, 82, whose suspected colon tumor was surgically removed in September 2021, said in his health post: “My friends, I’m at the hospital for my monthly checkups. It is always nice to receive your positive messages. Thanks to Qatar for the beautiful message and to everyone who wished goodwill.”

The former Brazilian soccer star has been hospitalized multiple times in recent years due to kidney and prostate problems.

Displayed among the best in soccer history, Pelé has the distinction of being the only player to win the FIFA World Cup 3 times (1958, 1962, 1970). (AA)
