Uruguay eliminated, Fernando Muslera marches on the referee
By defeating Ghana 2-0 in the last match of Group H of the 2022 World Cup, Uruguay finished third in the group on goal difference and said goodbye to the tournament. The Uruguayan team, which was devastated at the final whistle of the game, took breath from the German referee Daniel Siebert.
Uruguay, which has 4 points with South Korea and tied with the Asian team in overall average, came in third by scoring just 2 goals in group stage matches. South Korea, for its part, beat Portugal 2-1 with a goal at 90+1 and made a name for itself in the round of 16.
After the match, Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was one of the Uruguayan footballers who reacted strongly to referee Siebert.
NÚÑEZ STAYED ON THE GROUND
One of the positions that caused the Uruguayan forward to react was when Darwin Núñez was brought down by Daniel Amartey inside the penalty area. Although match official Siebert continued to play, he came out to the side of the field with the VAR warning and looked at the position on the screen. However, the German referee decided that the position was not a penalty and signed a decision that shocked Uruguay.

CAVANI EXPECTED THE PENALTY
Edinson Cavani was left on the ground this time after extra time in the game. The experienced striker, who fell to the ground in the penalty area after intervention from behind by Ghana’s Seidu Alidu, expected a penalty. However, Siebert continued to play after this position.

GIRL GOES CRAZY
With the end of the game, the Uruguayan soccer players, who surrounded referee Siebert and his assistants, reacted harshly. Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, walking towards the assistant referee, pushed the referee from behind with his hand. The assistant referee was stunned by this play by Muslera.
