The coach of Mexico, Gerardo Martino, cut the account

Disappointed in the 2022 FIFA World Cup for not reaching the group stage, Mexico coach Gerardo Martino resigned.

Despite beating Saudi Arabia 2-1 yesterday in their last match in Group C, Mexico lost its ticket to the round of 16 against Poland, which has the same points (4). The 60-year-old Argentine coach, who took responsibility for Mexico’s failure to be left out of the World Cup group for the first time since 1990, said his contract had expired and left office.

Speaking after the Saudi Arabia game, Martino said: “I bear the first responsibility for this disappointment and frustration. I take full responsibility for this great failure. As soon as the referee blew the final whistle, my contract was up.”

The experienced coach, who also coached the Argentine National Team for a time in his career, has been in charge of Mexico since 2019.
