Rennes coach Bruno Genesio: If there is an imbecile…

Following the 3-3 draw with Fenerbahçe on matchday 5 of Group B of the UEFA Europa League, Rennes coach Bruno Genesio made a statement at the press conference.

Asked for his opinion on Bouriguaud’s statement: “We won the game 3-0, we are idiots”, Rennes coach Bruno Genesio said: “To be honest, I am the team’s manager. I make the decisions. If there is an imbecile, it is me first”.

Regarding the leadership of the group, Genesio said: “It’s hard to say at the moment, we will wait for the last game. Everything will be possible in the last games,” he said.

Noting that there were some matches that influenced him, Genesio said: “This match is one of them. We could have played better, especially in the second half. Our defense practice in the second half was not about tactics, but about the system and player changes at Fenerbahçe. They are playing on their own court, that is normal. It is very normal for us to eat such a block. Sometimes we couldn’t get out of our field and we couldn’t use the empty spaces.

“I think we lose in the small details”

Expressing that Fenerbahce scored goals coming from behind in both games, Genesio stated that they had a very good first half, saying: “I don’t know if this is because the team is young. Small details can be very important sometimes. “We could have won, but I think we lost because of very small details, we could have been more determined,” he said.
