Republicans’ State of the Union response? A woman’s place is in the kitchen

A woman’s place is in the kitchen, even if she is one

Intentionally or not, that was the message conveyed by the Republican Party’s response to President Biden’s State of the Union address.

Yet there was no table or family. Just a shot of Britt sitting alone, in an overwhelmingly beige kitchen with creepy bars

Before Britt even opened her mouth, the optics of rebuttals led to widespread criticism that Republicans are turning back the clock on women’s rights and freedoms to the time of June Cleaver.

A long-held goal for the right was realized in 2022 when the U.S. Supreme Court officially overturned Roe

GOP Presidential

candidate Donald Trump has reportedly said he will support a 16-week abortion ban if re-elected.

It’s an unpopular position, even among Republican voters, and a topic that many have shied away from discussing publicly for fear it would hurt them in the voting booth. It’s no wonder Biden doubled down on his support for reproductive rights and castigated Republicans on Thursday

Intentionally or unintentionally sending messages in the kitchen is also consistent with Trump’s record on women. Dominating the news this week are issues surrounding Trump’s settlement payment to a woman he sexually assaulted, and news surrounding his upcoming trial over hush money he allegedly paid to a porn star he allegedly had sex with while his wife was pregnant.

Is it any wonder the Republican Party is struggling to retain the female vote?
