Prosecutors want to file new charges against Hunter Biden before the end of September

Federal prosecutors plan to ask a grand jury to indict the president

Biden’s son Hunter by the end of the month, according to court documents filed Wednesday.

The exact charges the president’s son would face were not immediately clear, but appeared to be related to a gun possession charge that accused him of having a firearm while on drugs. He has also been under investigation by federal prosecutors for his business dealings.

Reference is made to U.S. Attorney for Delaware, David Weiss, recently appointed special prosecutor in the case

seeking an indictment before Sept. 29 in a status report required by Judge Maryellen Noreika.

Defense attorneys have argued that an agreement still exists that saves Hunter Biden from prosecution for a felony. It was part of a plea deal on tax crimes that fell apart at trial in July.

Biden was charged in June with two counts of failing to pay more than $100,000 in taxes on more than $1.5 million in income in both 2017 and 2018. He was expected to plead guilty in July, after he had entered into an agreement with prosecutors who intended to recommend a two-year probationary period. Trump expressed multiple concerns about the details of the deal and her role in the proceedings.

Biden’s lawyers did not immediately return messages on Wednesday asking for comment.
