Trump says he is officially the target of a US investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election

Former President Trump said on Tuesday he received a letter informing him he is a target of the Justice Department’s investigation into efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Trump made the statement in a post on his Truth Social platform, saying he received the letter Sunday evening. Such a letter may precede an indictment; Trump got one before he was charged last month in a separate investigation into

A spokesman for Special Counsel Jack Smith, whose office is leading the investigation, did not immediately return an email seeking comment.
Prosecutors have cast a wide net in their investigation of attempts by Trump and his allies to block the transfer of power to President Biden.

Trump, who is currently the dominant early front-runner for the Republican nomination, is scheduled to travel to Iowa on Tuesday, where he will record a town hall meeting with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
Prosecutors in Georgia are conducting a separate investigation into Trump’s attempts to reverse his election loss in that state, with the chief prosecutor in Fulton County saying it expects to issue impeachment decisions soon.
In his post, Trump wrote that they have now effectively charged me three times…with a likely fourth from Atlanta and added in all caps: This witch hunt is all about election interference and a full and total (political) arming of law enforcement!
