Previously it was known that the elections would not take place before mid-November as sufficient time is needed to organize everything. Furthermore, parliamentary elections are always held on Wednesdays.
132 days
Outgoing climate and energy minister Rob Jetten stepped forward today as party leader for D66. He said there are still 132 days left before the elections. “If you calculate that, you end up with Wednesday, November 22,” says political journalist Mats Akkerman. “The Council of Ministers has yet to take an official decision on the matter, but this date will be confirmed this afternoon.”
On Friday, the cabinet will meet for the first time in caretaker form, after which the break will begin.
