Yesterday the education minister announced his resignation after a new report on his behaviour. “I will miss his dedication and passion for education,” says Dijkgraaf.
According to Dijkgraaf, Wiersma “had to make a very difficult decision”. The minister indicated that he still saw space for himself, but he also realized that he had ended up in an impracticable situation. Then you have to respect that decision. He took it himself, but I understand.’ Dijkgraaf stresses that no pressure has been placed on Wiersma by the department.
