appeared in an Instagram photo Thursday morning showing him carrying a cardboard box outside Fox News headquarters. He had served as editor-in-chief and senior producer on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and remained employed after Carlson was dropped from his primetime slot on April 24.

“Today was my last day at FOX. It’s been a wild 10 years and it’s been the best place I’ve ever worked because of the amazing people I’ve met. But the time has come,” said McCaskill’s Instagram post. “I asked them to let me go and they finally did.”

Carlson, who did not name McCaskill, said in a Twitter video Thursday that the producer resigned and “offered to stay the usual two weeks, but Fox told him to clear his desk and leave immediately.”

Two people familiar with the situation and not authorized to comment publicly confirmed McCaskill’s departure and that he was responsible for the Biden chyron.

A Fox News representative did not comment on the matter. The network previously said the chyron was withdrawn and “addressed” shortly after it appeared, but offered no further explanation.

While Fox News is typically highly critical of the Biden administration, the chyron was deemed shocking and drew widespread criticism on social media. The White House also responded the following day, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre referring to the network’s recent $787

million settlement paid to Dominion Voting Systems to end libel lawsuit.

There are probably 787 million things I can say about this that were wrong about what we saw last night, said Jean-Pierre

Fox News paid the voting machine company to lead a lawsuit, but not before releasing evidence that reflected badly on the network.

Dominion claimed it was corrupted by Fox News, which reinforced false claims by Trump lawyers Sidney Powell and Rudolph W. Giuliani that the company’s machines rigged votes to aid in the election.
