‘Bob’s Burgers’ actor Jay Johnston arrested on charges of rioting at the Capitol

was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of participating in the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

The 54-year-old actor, known for voicing Jimmy Pesto in the animated comedy series “Bob’s Burgers,” is charged with causing a disturbance, trespassing in a restricted area and obstructing passage through the Capitol.

Johnston also allegedly passed stolen police shields from the Capitol to other rioters and participated in a “group attack” on officers defending the Capitol’s West Plaza, according to an affidavit filed by an FBI agent.

In addition, the FBI says it obtained flight records from United Airlines confirming that Johnston traveled from his hometown of Los Angeles to Washington, DC, during the period.

Besides “Bob’s Burgers”, Johnston has appeared in other TV series and movies such as “Mr. Show With Bob and David”, “Arrested Development” and “Anchorman”. He is one of more than 1,000 people charged with federal crimes for their alleged participation in the U.S. Capitol riot and is expected to appear in California for the first time on Wednesday.
