Board Senator: notice WI does not change pension position Related articles

The warning of the Scientific Institute of the CDA on the law on pensions is not a reason for the parliamentary group of the Christian Democrats to reconsider its position. According to CDA Senator and pensions spokeswoman Ria Oomen, “the basic attitude” remains the same. “I don’t see any content,” Oomen says of the party think tank’s concerns.

In De Telegraaf, the important Scientific Institute (WI) of the CDA defines the new pension law ‘a disaster’ and ‘a big bet on the future’. From Monday, the Senate will examine the pension law, approved by the House of Representatives at the end of last year after lengthy discussions. The Future Pensions Act lays the legal basis for a new system. On the one hand, this system is more future-proof. On the other, it makes pensions more flexible and therefore a little less certain. There are also uncertainties about the transition to the new system.

Positive basic attitude

Oomen reiterates that he enters the debate with a “basically positive attitude” towards the law. He has “questions and comments” for Pensions Minister Carola Schouten, including on the effects of the new law and system on other organizations.

The signal from the CDA think tank doesn’t change that. “Zero,” Oomen says when asked. He stresses that WI is independent and needs to worry about the future. “This debate is in two days,” notes the senator. He adds that WI “hasn’t bothered to tell anyone about it beforehand.”
