‘Agriculture deal negotiations have failed’ Related articles

According to De Telegraaf’s well-informed sources, the talks on the agricultural agreement have collapsed. In the coming weeks, all parties will be able to have their say once again in so-called “confessional sessions”.

Sources close to the case tell the newspaper that despite weeks of heated meetings on important issues such as fertilizer, agricultural land use and pesticides, the parties are still diametrically opposed.

According to sources in The Hague, after the last two intense talks, the joint talks will conclude on Tuesday afternoon. The plan is for all sides to have their say once again with chairman Chris Kalden. According to one person involved, these will be called “confessional sessions”, a tactic that was also used by nitrogen broker Johan Remkes during the last lineup to force a breakthrough.

Approximately thirty people participate in the consultations on the agricultural agreement. Previously, Farmers Action Group Agractie had already dropped out of the consultation due to dissatisfaction with parts of the plan. ‘Farmers are squeezed into this plan. Permanent restrictions on land use are imposed, without an income model in return,” foreman Bart Kemp said at the time.

According to well-informed sources of the Telegraaf, the consultations on the agricultural agreement have failed. A last attempt will be made in the coming weeks to finalize the agreement through individual talks. (ANP / Robin Utrecht)
