ChristenUnie is currently trailing slightly in the polls for the provincial council elections. It is expected that some fans will move to the BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB). The newest party leader of the ChristenUnie, Mirjam Bikker, does not rule out collaboration with that party. “We agree on some things.”
Differences
According to Bikker, both ChristenUnie and the BBB believe farmers should be more involved in negotiations on the future of agriculture. Bikker says farmers have been living in uncertainty for too long. But there are also points where the parties disagree, for example in the field of asylum policy. “This difference of opinion is a starting point for me,” says Bikker.
“The PVV and the Forum don’t seem to inspire confidence to work with”
The leader of the ChristenUnie therefore does not rule out the collaboration with the BoerBurgerBeweging. But Bikker does not see a partner in the PVV and in the Forum for Democracy. ‘These are parties that I think are less confidence-inspiring to work with. But for the rest I do not exclude anyone.
Closing poll
Political journalist Sophie van Leeuwen says that according to the INO’s final poll, the ChristenUnie receives four per cent of the vote in the provincial council elections. “In the previous provincial council elections it was five per cent. But of course you are a governing party and therefore you really understand that at the moment, ‘explains Van Leeuwen.
It could be much worse, because ChristenUnie’s supporters seem more loyal than those of the CDA. “They’re down from nine to three places at INO. You can also look at it this way, the light leak is better,” the political reporter said.
