PvdA leader Attje Kuiken aims his arrows at D66 Deputy Prime Minister Sigrid Kaag for the second time in a short time. In a speech at a joint party meeting with GroenLinks, he calls on his supporters to bring the leftist’s story to the attention of “your friends who once fell in love with the new leadership”, referring to the promise D66 made a big deal with success in the 2021 parliamentary election.
Kuiken previously criticized Kaag during a New Year’s speech last month. Shortly before, the D66 leader himself had lashed out against right-wing extremists and conspiracy theorists. Kuiken then accused her of not paying enough attention to the social issues that provide fertile ground for their ideas.
Left cloud
The VVD also has to suffer again. Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who warned in an interview last week that the hardworking Dutch will pay the price if the “left cloud” of PvdA and GroenLinks takes over, “fills the pages of newspapers with scaremongering,” says Kuiken . According to her, he does it “on behalf of pawnbrokers” and large corporations. “If the right is talking about ‘hardworking Holland’, then it’s not about you,” warns the PvdA leader.
Rutte also lacks a story of his own, says Kuiken, who has repeatedly called the joint meeting and upcoming campaign historic.
