Sign of ‘single increase’ to the minimum wage from the Minister of Labor
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan made statements regarding the minimum wage in his statement after the cabinet meeting held yesterday. Işıkhan noted that there will be a single increase in the minimum wage in 2024.
In his statement, Işıkhan said: “As you know, the minimum wage was always once a year. “We’re still working on a one-time increase,” he said.
‘WE THINK IT WILL NOT BE NECESSARY’
Işıkhan stated that he believes that there will be no need for a second increase in the minimum wage:
“The decision must be published in the Official Gazette as of December 31. Therefore, it will be like what we did last July. As you know, the minimum wage was always once a year. Again, we are working for a single increase.
Last July was extra. This happened when it was necessary, with the foresight of our President. But if the need arises, we can come together.
Let’s hope that next year inflation will go down. We will not hold a second meeting in July, we believe that a second increase will not be necessary. Because all the parameters are going well.”
