Investigation into Coca-Cola by the German competition authority
The statement from the Federal Cartel Office states that an investigation has been launched against Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Deutschland for anti-competitive discounts.
Andreas Mundt, head of the German Federal Cartel Office, in his assessment of the matter, said: “There are indications that Coca-Cola may hinder other companies in terms of competition by designing its conditions for German food retailers, especially its discount structure. “We will examine this issue in more detail.” he said.
AN INSPECTION WILL BE CARRIED OUT
In this investigation, the Bundeskartellamt will first examine whether Coca-Cola has a dominant position on the soft drink market.
The chamber will also examine whether food retailers could be improperly encouraged to purchase, stock and advertise Coca-Cola’s entire line of products.
