THY reached an agreement in principle with Airbus for the purchase of 355 aircraft

The Airbus spokesperson announced that Airbus and Turkish Airlines reached an agreement in principle for a “large-scale commercial aircraft order.”

The spokesman said the deal was being approved and would be announced “in the coming days.”

In its statement to KAP, THY stated that it was negotiating with Airbus for the purchase of a total of 355 aircraft, 240 of which are firm and 115 as options, which will be delivered between 2026 and 2036.

It was claimed that over the weekend, THY management met with Airbus officials in Istanbul for the largest aircraft order in its history.

In addition to the 10 A350-900 aircraft that THY decided to acquire at the meeting; Negotiations were held for 75 A350-900 aircraft, 15 A350-1000, 250 A321 NEO and 5 A350F cargo aircraft.

Following the Airbus spokesperson’s statement that the parties had agreed in principle, THY shares rose to 240 lira and were trading at 238.60 lira with a premium of 4.16 percent at 15.08. The BIST100 index is negative 0.76 percent. (REUTERS)
