Lavrov: European companies lost 250 billion euros due to sanctions

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed that the United States was dragging Europe into bankruptcy, saying: “According to the most modest estimates over the past 1.5 years, European companies have lost 250 billion euros due to unilateral Western sanctions. “This is a big number,” he said.

Lavrov spoke at the round table attended by ambassadors of several countries on the solution of the Ukrainian crisis in the capital Moscow.

Noting that the United States has damaged the European economy with its policies, Lavrov said: “While Washington is making money for its military-industrial industry, it is dragging Europe under its command into bankruptcy.”

Claiming that the United States is forcing Europe to buy its expensive liquefied natural gas (LNG), Lavrov said: “It imposes its selfish laws on European companies and forces companies here to move their businesses abroad, to places where costs They are lower. “Washington, which forces the European Union to give up everything that belongs to Russia, continues to buy uranium and other critical materials from Russia.” saying.

Arguing that Europe has suffered significant economic damage due to these policies, Lavrov said: “According to the most modest estimates in the last year and a half, European companies have lost 250 billion euros due to the West’s unilateral sanctions. “This is a big number.” he commented.

Lavrov noted that United Nations efforts to revive the Black Sea Grains Initiative have not yielded results and stressed that Western countries are impeding progress on this issue. (AA)
