Amazon workers return to strike in England
After their first legal strike in the UK earlier in the year, Amazon employees decided to go on another strike as the pay dispute continued.
More than 1,000 workers working at the Amazon warehouse in Coventry will strike for 3 days, including today. Workers will also strike on Black Friday, November 24, which is an important date for Amazon.
The workers are demanding £15 an hour.
THEY COULD NOT AGREE ON THE RATE
Amazon, which has 75,000 employees in the UK, announced last month that starting October 15, the minimum starting wage will increase by at least one pound per hour, depending on location, between £11.80 and £12. ,fifty.
Pay rates will rise to between £12.30 and £13 an hour from April next year.
Amazon said the increases would cost it £170 million ($209 million) and would mean its starting minimum wage would increase by 20 percent over two years and 50 percent from 2018.
WHAT IS BLACK FRIDAY?
Black Friday, known in Turkey as “Legendary Friday” and “Magnificent Friday,” is celebrated on the Friday after Thanksgiving. During Black Friday, which has been practiced since the 1960s, companies try to stimulate consumption by offering various discounts.
This shopping day was first mentioned in newspapers as Black Friday in 1961. It is believed that this name was given due to the heavy traffic and difficulties that shopping in Philadelphia caused on that day. In recent years, Black Friday has been received positively in the retail industry.
