While I was waiting for a discount, a discount arrived.
President On the instructions of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, it was announced last year that there would be a huge discount at the Agricultural Credit Cooperative markets, but citizens who flocked to the markets on August 15 of that year were disappointed. The Agricultural Credit Union was also no surprise this time. It was claimed that in October there would be a discount of up to 50 per cent on some food and cleaning products, but this time citizens faced price increases of up to 24 per cent. Therefore, Erdoğan’s request for discounts in market chains to support the fight against inflation on the occasion of the centenary of the Republic was not fulfilled. In just 20 days, the products sold in the Agricultural Credit Cooperative markets have increased one after another.
GREEN LENTILS ON TOP
In the statement from the officials of the Agricultural Credit Cooperative, which provides service with more than 3 thousand points of sale in 81 provinces of Turkey, it was announced that there will be discounts on some food products starting October 16. The statement said: “There will be a discount of up to 50 percent on essential products such as cheese, rice, chickpeas, lentils, sunflower oil, tomato paste, tea, flour and cleaning products such as detergent, soap, napkins. paper and paper towels.”
Citizens who formed long lines in front of the Agricultural Credit Union stores on the morning of October 6 could not find the discount they expected. In the last 20 days, the price change drew attention, especially in legume products. The champion of the 20-day price increase was green lentils. The price of a kilogram of green lentils, which sold for 32.90 lira on October 16, increased by 24.3 percent to 40.90 lira on November 6.
The change in the price of legumes draws attention
Although the product with the highest price increase in the Agricultural Credit Cooperative stores in the 20-day period was green lentils, the price variation in legume products also attracted attention. The second product whose price increased the most was rice. The price of 2.5 kilograms of rice, which was sold for 87.90 lira on October 16, rose to 107.50 lira after the 22.2 percent increase. There were no changes to prices for some products, including 5 liter sunflower oil, toilet paper and tea.
