Investor confidence in the eurozone increased in November

The eurozone investor confidence index rose and remained above expectations after professional and private investors’ medium-term concerns about the economy eased in November.

Sentix, which conducts market research and is based in Frankfurt, announced data for the general euro zone investor confidence index for November.

Consequently, the general investor confidence index in the euro zone, which was -21.9 points in October, increased by 3.4 points to -18.6 this month. The index, which hit its highest level since June, was expected to decline to -22.2 points.

The expectations index, which measures investors’ expectations for the next 6 months, also increased from -16.8 points to -10 points, reaching its highest level since February 2023.

The current situation index also increased from -27 points to -26.8 points.

EVEN IF EXPECTATIONS IMPROVE, THE POSSIBILITY OF RECESSION CONTINUES

Sentix CEO Patrick Hussy said: “While the current assessment remains in the recession zone, expectations have improved further. There are also small glimmers of hope in international data. Economic prospects are improving almost everywhere. “Despite these glimmers of hope, the problem of recession in the economy is not yet ruled out,” he said.

On the other hand, the eurozone economy, after growing by 0.2 percent in the second quarter of this year, contracted by 0.1 percent in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter.

According to the European Central Bank (ECB), the eurozone economy will remain weak for the rest of the year. However, the ECB believes that economic growth will accelerate in the coming years as inflation continues to fall and external demand increases.

The investor confidence survey was conducted from November 2 to 4 with the participation of 1,203 investors. (AA)
