The minimum wage decreased to 2,951 TL
EmployeeThe increases granted to civil servants and retirees in early July, including those granted on a pro rata basis, evaporated in the face of inflation. Wage increases that were applied literally by the spoonful in July were recouped through taxes and price increases. Due to the high inflation experienced in the last 4 months since July, the worker with the lowest minimum wage lost 3.93 lira, the retired worker with the minimum wage lost 3,850 lira and the retired civil servant with the lowest salary lost 2,348 lira.
THE OFFICER LOST 5 THOUSAND TL
The quarterly inflation data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Inflation Research Group (ENAG) covering the July-October period clearly revealed the real decline in wages. In the last four months since July, TÜİK calculated the increase in consumer inflation at 29.41 percent and ENAG at 37.22 percent. Consequently, the purchasing power of the lowest salary of civil servants, which in July was 22,000 lira with spousal and child support, fell to 17,000 lira according to TÜİK’s calculation and to 16,000 36 lira according to ENAG’s account at the beginning of November. The purchasing power of the lowest salary of a civil servant, which in July was 20,352 lira, was calculated at 15,727 and 14,832 TL.
LESS THAN 9 THOUSAND LIRAS
The purchasing power of the teaching salary, which in July was 24,505 liras, has decreased today to 18,936 liras according to TÜİK’s calculation and to 17,858 liras according to ENAG’s account, after the inflation experienced in 4 months. The purchasing power of the nurse’s salary, which was 26 thousand 476 liras, decreased by 6 thousand 17 liras according to TUIK and 7 thousand 181 liras according to ENAG in 4 months. The purchasing power of the minimum wage of 11,402 lira, which is expected to increase next month, fell to 8,811 lira according to TUIK and to 8,309 lira according to ENAG.
