A new regulation had arrived: thousands of ads were removed

Istanbul Chamber of Realtors: Thousands of ads removed from sites in the last 2 days

With the regulation relating to the advertising of second-hand properties and vehicles, the obligation to verify identity came into force.

Regarding the regulation, which aims to contribute to price stability, Nizameddin Aşa, president of the Istanbul Chamber of Realtors, said: “It came into effect on November 1. Fake listings, misleading listings, and listings placed by unregistered real estate agents claiming to be the owner have now started to be removed. “Thousands of ads have been removed from the sites in the last two days,” he said.

According to the regulation, people and real estate offices who want to make sales on listing sites must verify their identity or authorization document through e-government. With the regulation, administrative fines ranging between 10,000 and 100,000 lira will be imposed on those who violate the legislation for each violation.

‘ALL MANIPULATORY ADS…’

Evaluating the new regulation, Asha said: “For a long time, all false advertisements, unregistered advertisements, misleading and fraudulent advertisements in the market, and even manipulative advertisements made to increase the prices of a region, were all caused by people who placed ads as owners.”

“We have already been raising the need to present an identity and property document on the agenda for many years,” said Aşa, adding: “The Ministry made a change in the regulation. It is obliged to communicate to the state the TR DNI of the person or the DNI, telephone number and identity information of the person who owns the property. “Here on the responsibility advertising sites,” he said.

‘THE NEW SYSTEM IS NOT COMPLETELY UNDERSTOOD’

Nizamettin Aşa said: “The system is not yet fully understood. So it is not known exactly what it covers. “There are two points in this matter,” he said and continued as follows:

“First of all, in individual advertisements, the person must prove that they are the owner of the property through an identity verification system.

Secondly, the real estate agent will not be able to advertise without a certificate of authorization. He should know this way and complete his work if something is missing. It was actually published 2 months ago, it’s not new.

However, it came into effect from November 1. Fake listings, misleading listings and ads placed by unregistered real estate agents saying “I am the owner” have now started to be removed. “Thousands of ads have been removed from sites in the last two days.”

‘VEHICLE BUYERS WERE BEING SCAMMED’

Istanbul Motor Vehicle Dealers Association (IMAS) President Hayrettin Erkaynak said: “Consumers buy vehicles online; He was facing many frauds such as vandalized vehicles and deposit fraud. “We can say that this has been avoided with this identity verification system,” he said.

“Unless everyone you meet on the Internet is a first-degree relative, you won’t have the chance to display these vehicles here,” Er Temel said, adding, “These are all positive regulations for our industry.”

PRICES WERE MORE SPECULATED ON THE INTERNET

Er Temel said: “During the pandemic, the most used medium to speculate on vehicle prices was the Internet. People showed off vehicles that didn’t belong to their spouse, their friends, or themselves, at whatever price they wanted. “We can say this is over,” he said.

“During the pandemic, one in every two vehicles was sold without registration. “This is a very high rate,” Erkaynak said and continued:

“Therefore, we continue our work to ensure that certified institutions carry out this work in the automotive industry. Our Ministry also seriously supports us in this regard. We consider it very positive that this is done in accordance with the wishes of the car manufacturers.

Of course, consumers should pay attention to this as well. If the vehicles will never be seen again, if they are bought online, maybe people will turn off their phones and never be able to access them again, all vehicles are worth a fortune.

We specifically request authorized institutions to purchase such vehicles from second-hand car dealers.

We especially recommend that in case of any problem that arises, at least find an interlocutor here, they will have a much stronger hand to solve their problems.” (DHA)
