Jeff Bezos moves from Seattle to Miami
Jeff Bezos, the third richest person in the world with a fortune of $161 billion and founder of Amazon, announced that he will move to Florida.
Bezos, who has lived in Seattle since 1994, said he moved to be closer to his family and the operations of his aerospace company Blue Origin.
Announcing his decision to move on his Instagram account on Thursday, Bezos said: “I’ve lived in Seattle longer than I’ve lived anywhere else and I have many wonderful memories here. “As exciting as this move is, it is an emotional decision for me,” he said.
Bezos founded Amazon in his Seattle garage in 1994 and spent billions of dollars transforming the city into a tech boomtown.
According to Bloomberg, Bezos last month purchased a 7-bedroom property in Indian Creek, Florida, known as the “Billionaire’s Haven,” for $79 million. The house, on an area of approximately 2 acres, has a cinema, library, swimming pool and wine cellar.
Bezos’ new home is located right next to another property he purchased this summer for $68 million.
