The minimum wage has melted, eyes are set on increasing it

What is the minimum wage and when will it be determined?

The increase in the minimum wage, which is an important factor in determining the salary increase that almost all segments of Turkish society will receive, is announced every year in December. The minimum wage, which will be determined by a commission attended by workers, employers and government officials, is expected to rise above the hunger line.

HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?

The minimum wage has not yet been determined, but it is expected to be slightly above the hunger threshold.

According to the calculation made by TÃœRK-Ä°Åž, the monthly food expenditure (hunger limit) that a family of four living in Ankara must make to have a healthy, balanced and adequate diet increased to 13,684 TL in October.

The hunger limit is expected to reach 15,000 lira by the end of the year.

WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE DECLARED?

The minimum wage will be determined as a result of meetings that will be held in December with the participation of workers, employers and representatives of the Ministry.

The minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which is made up of 15 people, including five representatives of workers, employers and the government, as required by law. The Commission meets four times in December, as is customary, as part of its efforts to determine the new minimum wage.

The commission, chaired by one of the members determined by the Ministry, meets with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority vote. In case of equality of votes, the presiding party is assumed to have the majority.

THE PROPORTION OF WORK WITH MINIMUM WAGE IS 40 PERCENT

Emphasizing that the minimum wage is one of the main issues of his ministry, Işıkhan said: “We will convene our Commission for Determination of the Minimum Wage in December. There we will also have the option to make a decision that does not cause inflation. The number of people earning minimum wage is constantly exaggerated. While there are 16.4 million employees with SSK (4a) status, 6.6 million of them earn minimum wage. So 50 to 60 percent are wrong. “The rate of our brothers and sisters working for minimum wage is 40 percent.” gave the information.
