When will the tax-free phone come into effect and what are the conditions?
The long-awaited details of the tax-free sale of phones and computers that will be offered to university students on a one-time basis have been published in the Official Gazette. It was stated that it can be used for purchases of mobile phones and computers whose final sales price does not exceed 9,500 TL, made with an electric bill.
WHEN WILL THE TAX FREE PHONE COME INTO EFFECT?
The one-time tax-free sale of computers and phones for university students will take effect on November 1. The details of the support were included in the Official Gazette.
WHAT ARE THE TERMS OF TAX-FREE PHONE?
In the regulation, it is stated that one-time support for technological devices and Internet support will be provided for 1 year to each higher education student who is a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, except for open education students, who are under 10 years old. . 26 from the date of purchase.
It was stated that the support can be used for purchases of mobile phones and computers made with an electric bill whose final sales price does not exceed 9,500 TL.
While it was stated that the purchase of second-hand devices is outside the scope of support, it was stated that the maximum total amount of support that each student can use for one time is 5 thousand 500 TL.
In the decision, “the Internet support to be provided to the students concerned is 120 GB per year, with a maximum of 10 GB per month free of charge for 12 months, limited to one line. “This support is used through a line registered in the name of the corresponding student.”
WHAT HAPPENS IF AN IRREGULARITY IS DETECTED?
The decision, which will come into force on November 1, 2023, was as follows:
* “Mobile telephone devices purchased within the scope of Article 2 are used only by the beneficiary of the aid for at least two full years from the date of benefiting from the aid.
* In the event that it is determined that the conditions of this decision have been violated and the supports have been used irregularly, the amount of support benefited will be deducted from the support along with interest that will be calculated at the default interest rate determined in The Article 51 of Law No. 6183 on Public Credit Collection Procedure, dated 7/21/1953 and numbered 6183, from the date of payment, it is returned to the beneficiary.
*The support provided within the scope of this decision is covered by the funds allocated for this purpose in the budget of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.”
