The Ministry of Agriculture filed criminal complaints against 159 companies this year
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı met at the Ministry with representatives of the Turkish Federation of Food and Beverage Industry Associations (TGDF).
According to the Ministry’s statement, Yumaklı stated that they made great efforts to ensure that citizens have access to safe food and said: “We have carried out a total of 1 million 16 thousand 980 food inspections from January 1 to today. “We filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office against 159 companies that were determined to produce and sell products that threaten human health,” he said.
12,788 NON-CONFORMITIES WERE DETECTED
Yumaklı said: “We carry out inspections on the safe production and sale of food products. Our teams work around the clock to ensure our citizens have access to healthy and safe food. We have conducted a total of 1,16,980 food inspections since January 1. During these inspections we detected 12,788 non-conformities. “We filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office against 159 companies that were determined to produce and sell products that threaten human health,” he said.
Yumaklı stated that in this practice, which was launched from August 21, 2023, mass consumption places such as restaurants, canteens and cafes were inspected, and second-stage inspections were carried out in food sales places such as butcher shops, delicatessen, grocery stores. , markets and buffets, and that citizens will be informed about their complaints and negative situations regarding food by the Ministry, and called to send it to the Alo 174 line.
