Record rise in rental home prices in England
UK home rental prices increased by 5.7 per cent in September. This rate was recorded as the largest annual increase.
The British Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced preliminary data on rental house prices. The rise in UK house rents continued in September, increasing by 5.6 per cent in August. The largest annual increase was achieved in September, with an increase of 5.7 percent.
ENGLAND, WALES, SCOTLAND
While rents rose by 5.6 per cent in England, this rate was 6.9 per cent in Wales and 6 per cent in Scotland. Current data on rentals in Northern Ireland has not yet been published.
The capital, London, was recorded as the city where rents rose fastest annually since January 2006, when there was a 6.2 per cent rise. UK house prices rose 0.2 per cent year-on-year in August. The price increase was 0.7 percent in July.
The average house price was estimated at £291,000 in August. While house prices were unchanged in England, they increased by 1.1 per cent in Scotland and decreased by 0.1 per cent in Wales. (AA)
