Milk production decreased by 8 percent in August

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the production of milk and dairy products for August 2023.

Consequently, the amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairies increased by 3.1 percent in August compared to the same month a year earlier; In the January-August period it increased by 3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

While yogurt production increased by 10.1 percent, cow cheese production increased by 9.1 percent and whey production increased by 5.5 percent in August compared to the same month of the last year; Butter production decreased by 10.3 percent and drinking milk production decreased by 7.9 percent.

The production of drinking milk, which was 102,203 tons the previous month, increased by 9.1 percent in August and reached 111,497 tons.

THE BIGGEST DECREASE IS IN BUTTER

In the January-August period, compared with the same period of the previous year, cow cheese production increased by 9.4 percent, whey production increased by 7.2 percent, and yogurt production increased 3.4 percent; Butter production decreased by 11.7 percent and drinking milk production decreased by 2.2 percent.

The amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairy enterprises, which was 835,878 tons in the previous month, decreased by 1.4 percent in August and reached 823,967 tons.
