Decision by global companies to temporarily suspend their activities in Israel

With Tel Aviv entering a state of war following the conflicts between Israel and Palestine, many global companies decided to temporarily halt some of their operations in the country and asked their staff to work from home.

Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel on the morning of October 7, called the “Aqsa Flood.” As thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian armed groups attacked and seized the Beit Hanun-Erez border gate on the Gaza-Israel border.

Armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from here and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.

THEY ALSO STARTED CANCELING FLIGHTS

Following these attacks, some airlines began canceling their flights to Israel as Tel Aviv entered a state of war.

Airlines belonging to South Korea, the Netherlands, India, Norway, Hungary, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States announced that they canceled direct flights to Israel due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Atlanta-based US airline Delta Air Lines has canceled its flights to Tel Aviv until October 31, while Israel’s official airline El Al will operate more flights to bring reservists back to Israel from abroad to help with the mobilization launched in the country, he announced.

THY and Pegasus Airlines also announced that they would suspend their flights until further notice.

CHEVRON STOPPED PRODUCTION

Cruise operator Royal Caribbean said it changed several itineraries in the region and affected guests were notified directly.

Carnival, one of the largest cruise companies in the world, decided to change its travel schedules due to conflicts in the region and announced that it will not stop at Israeli ports.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said it diverted ships scheduled to visit Israel in October to another region and will reassess the situation in the region for its activities.

US oil and gas producer Chevron has halted production at the Tamar natural gas field on the country’s northern coast following instructions from Israel’s Energy Ministry.

THEY CLOSED THEIR OFFICES OR WORKED FROM HOME

Major Wall Street banks JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America asked their staff in Israel to work from home. Bank of America also decided to close its Tel-Aviv office, stating that it would closely monitor the local situation.

The United States-based international cargo company, FedEx, suspended its services in the country. UPS also announced that it was closely monitoring the situation and suspended freight transportation to and from Israel.

California-based chipmaker Nvidia has canceled an artificial intelligence summit scheduled for next week in Tel Aviv.

READYWEAR GIANTS CLOSED THEIR STORES

Swedish clothing retailer H&M announced that its local franchise partner in Israel has temporarily closed all of its stores in the country.

In the message shared on the Israeli website of Inditex, a company that brings together fashion brands such as Zara and Bershka, “Our stores will remain temporarily closed and the return period will be extended by 30 days from the date of their reopening.” The expression was used.

The pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Co stated that it is closely monitoring the evolution of the situation in Israel and will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its colleagues in and around the affected areas.
