The winner of the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences, awarded in memory of Alfred Nobel, also known as the Nobel Prize in Economics, has been announced.

As announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the committee awarded Claudia Goldin, from the United States, the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences 2023, awarded in memory of Alfred Nobel.

CONDUCTED RESEARCH ON INEQUALITY

Goldin, 77,’s research into inequality and women’s participation in employment played an important role in her receiving this year’s award.

Goldin, an expert in labor economics, became the third woman to win the economics prize since 1969.

Last year, American economists Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond and Philip H. Dybvig won the prize for their “research on banks and financial crises.”
