After hanging the bread and food, this time it is time to ‘hang photocopies’.

As citizens struggle to make ends meet due to the deepening economic crisis in Turkey, some businesses across the country are carrying out practices such as “bread hanging” and “food hanging” for low-income people.

The practice started by a trader in Kayseri revealed the extent reached in economic difficulties. Photocopier merchants in Kayseri’s Melikgazi district started the “suspended photocopying” application so that students from low-income families could have free photocopies after the opening of schools and later universities.

‘A STUDENT WHO CANNOT BUY A BOOK IS MADE A PHOTOCOPY’

Speaking to SÖZCÜ, businessman Harun Reşit Birinci stated that students cannot buy books whose prices are increasing day by day and therefore they make photocopies because it is cheaper.

Trader Birinci stated that there are people who have difficulty paying even the photocopy fee, which costs 60 kuruÅŸ front and back, and said:

“As you know, as a sector we primarily serve children from low-income families and we primarily work with students. Many of these students are young people who came to Kayseri from other provinces to study at the university. From time to time, we witness these students having difficulty making payments. “We are a small company, but we try to help our students in this situation.”

THOSE WHO ARE IN GOOD CONDITION GIVE SUPPORT

“As economic difficulties increased, the number of students who could not pay the photocopy fee began to increase rapidly,” Birinci said, adding: “We started thinking about a solution to this situation and it came to mind the application of the suspended bread. We said why not ‘hang photocopies’ too? Because the Turkish nation is a nation whose sense of cooperation increases the more difficult it becomes. “As we knew this, when we explained the situation to the richest, we received positive reactions and we decided to implement it,” he said.

Ä°lk said that well-off citizens and teachers began to support the practice and said, “We began to reflect the opportunities created in this group for students who have payment difficulties.”

‘OUR STUDENTS DO NOT ABUSE’

Businessman Biri, who also appealed to charitable businessmen, said: “I would also like to point this out; Our students use suspended photocopying work very efficiently and definitely do not resort to abuse and waste. We thank you. We also look forward to the support of our philanthropic entrepreneurs. We are happy to put into practice the motto ‘The hand that gives is better than the hand that receives’. “Of course, the essence of the matter is a prosperous Turkish society where no one needs the ‘suspended photocopy’ request,” he said.
