TESK call for ‘signal standard’

Bendevi Palandöken, president of the Confederation of Turkish Traders and Craftsmen (TESK), gave an assessment on the inconsistency in the signs.

Palandöken stated that the multicolored signs, of different sizes and often containing foreign words, cause visual pollution on the streets and demanded that a standard be established in this regard.

‘FOREIGN SIGNALS INCREASINGLY DAMAGE NATIONAL IDENTITY’

Palandöken emphasized that irregularity in this regard damages the city’s culture and said: “The increase in foreign signs represents a great danger to our national identity and our language. For this reason, there should be restrictions on the use of foreign signs and the rules of the sign regulation should be followed.”

Palandöken noted that posters create a professional and respected image for companies:

‘SHOULD BE STANDARD’

“Business signage is the first point of contact for customers. Therefore, it is extremely important that the designs and placement of business signs comply with regulations.

Adhering to a certain standard of sizes, colors and other similar characteristics of signs provides confidence in the first impression and helps create a corporate identity in the future. For this reason, signs must be standard.

The standard that will be applied to the signs will increase the recognition of businesses and allow them to be easily located. “This way, businesses will do business more regularly and the aesthetics of the streets will not be compromised.” (AA)
