Investigation into Duracell by the Competition Authority
The Competition Authority opened an investigation against Duracell for allegedly limiting competition by determining the sales prices of its products in stores.
Considering the information and documents obtained in the preliminary investigation to be sufficient, the board initiated an investigation to determine whether the company engaged in actions aimed at preventing, distorting or restricting competition, which are prohibited in Article 4 of the “Law on Protection of the Competition”. No. 4054.
In the statement made by the Competition Authority the following statements were made:
Preliminary investigation conducted on the allegation that Duracell Sales and Distribution Limited Company, which operates as a battery supplier in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, violated Article 4 of Law No. 4054 on Protection of Competition by determining the resale price of its buyers and restrict the regions and customers in which its buyers will sell, as decided by the board.
The Competition Board, which discussed the information, documents and conclusions obtained in the preliminary investigation at its meeting on 07/09/2023, considered that the conclusions were serious and sufficient; It was decided to open an investigation against Duracell Sales and Distribution Limited Company, number 23-41/786-M.
