Statement from the Minister of Commerce on second-hand vehicle prices

Trade Minister: Prices of second-hand cars decreased by 15 percent

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat made statements regarding the second-hand vehicle market.

Noting that prices are inflated in online ads, Bolat said: “We have issued regulations regarding these ads and have made changes to the regulations to impose strong criminal penalties on fake ads, and we have begun to see the results of this”.

“In the automobile market, second-hand prices have dropped between 10 and 15 percent,” Bolat said, adding: “Second-hand stocks had to be discovered and the word “without a vehicle” has disappeared on a large scale from the agenda… “We are going through a process in which it is not easy to raise the prices of new cars,” he stated.

‘WE ARE TRYING TO REMOVE THE BAD APPLES’

Bolat, who attended the 29th Ordinary Assembly of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO), had this to say about exorbitant pricing practices:

“We are doing what is necessary. With the actions we took in the auto market after taking office in June, the problems that began with the chip crisis are largely over. In this regard, we use the powers granted to us by laws and regulations in the most rapid and meticulous manner, and we will not hesitate to do so.

Our goal is to ensure that trading is conducted properly and honestly. Our goal is to provide a stable domestic market environment at reasonable prices where both buyer, consumer and seller benefit.”

INFLATION STATEMENT

Bolat also made statements about inflation.

Bolat said: “Our goal is to ensure that inflation declines rapidly in the middle of next year and complete next year at around 33 percent.”

“In addition, we have never given up on the development of our investment, production, employment and export objectives,” Bolat stated, and continued as follows:

“We have never given up on our goal of restoring seismic zones, completing permanent residences and reviving economic activities there, and turning them into more beautiful, livable and ideal cities than before.

In addition to fighting inflation with all our strength, the surveillance and construction of seismic zones are our most important objectives. (DHA)
