Artificial intelligence displaced 200 employees of a company in France
Onclusive, a company that employs 383 people in France, decided to replace more than half of its workforce with artificial intelligence starting in January.
According to Euronews Turkish news from France Inter, the company operating in the Courbevoie region, north of Paris, will lay off 217 employees and replace them with artificial intelligence.
Speaking to France Inter, the head of the company, Matthew Piercy, confirmed that new technological tools, including artificial intelligence, will be integrated into the company, and announced that “difficult decisions” will be made, including layoffs.
Stating that their goal is to improve the service provided to customers, the company official stated that they want to modernize the old system and infrastructure and will benefit from the contribution of artificial intelligence in this context.
Stating that the decision was not made lightly, the official stated that they were prepared for the effects of the layoffs on staff.
It emerged that the laid-off employees were responsible for researching, finding and collecting press articles for corporate and private clients.
However, this task in the company will now be performed by artificial intelligence.
MEDICINE, FINANCE AND LAW ARE THREATENED
According to a report published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in July, 27 percent of current jobs will be affected by the artificial intelligence revolution.
According to the OECD report on artificial intelligence and employment, skilled professions such as medicine, law and finance are also at risk.
The Employment Outlook 2023 report states that “While enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence is still slow, the rapid development of applications such as generative AI such as ChatGPT, falling costs, and the rise of knowledgeable employees how to use artificial intelligence indicate that OECD countries are on the verge of an artificial intelligence revolution.”
