According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey; The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 38 thousand people in July 2023 compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 291 thousand people.

The unemployment rate decreased 0.2 points to 9.4 percent. The unemployment rate was estimated to be 7.6 percent for men and 12.9 percent for women.

EMPLOYMENT RATE 48.4 PERCENT

The number of employed people increased in July by 318 thousand people compared to the previous month, reaching 31 million 671 thousand people, and the employment rate increased by 0.5 points to 48.4 percent. This rate was 65.7 percent for men and 31.5 percent for women.

The labor force increased by 280 thousand people in July 2023 compared to the previous month, reaching 34 million 962 thousand people, and the labor participation rate increased by 0.4 points to 53.4 percent. The labor force participation rate was 71.1 percent for men and 36.1 percent for women.

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT IS 18 PERCENT

The unemployment rate among the young population, which covers the age group of 15 to 24 years, reached 18 percent with a decrease of 0.3 points compared to the previous month. Unemployment rate in this age group; It was estimated at 15.2 percent for men and 23.1 percent for women.

The real average weekly working day of those who were employed during the reference period, corrected for seasonal and calendar effects, decreased 0.2 hours compared to the previous month and reached 44.5 hours in July.

LARGE UNEMPLOYMENT DEFINED IN THE SEA 22.7

The inactive labor force rate, also known as broadly defined unemployment, which consists of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployed people, was 22.7 percent in July, down 1.5 points compared with the previous month.

While the integrated rate of underemployment due to insufficient hours and unemployed was 14.8 percent, the integrated rate of unemployed and potential labor force was estimated at 17.8 percent.
