ONE LITER IS PRODUCED FOR 12.63 TL AND IS SOLD FOR 11.50 TL

Cost increases that began with the currency crisis in August 2018 caused a new increase in milk and milk products almost every month at that time; In subsequent periods, the crisis worsened when the dairy farmer made sales at a loss and sent his cows to slaughter.

The most important reason behind the continued increase in milk and dairy products since last year is that the dairy farmer, unable to afford the cost, sends their milk producing cows to slaughter, and this is now reflected in the data of production.

According to the latest TURKSTAT data, drinking milk production decreased by 11.2 percent in June. The largest decrease in production in the first six months of the year occurred in butter, with a decrease of 15.2 percent.

According to data from the Association of Cattle, Meat and Milk Breeders (TÃœSEDAD), a liter of milk is produced for 12.63 lire.

On the other hand, the National Dairy Council (USK) had decided to set the recommended price for raw milk so that the producer would receive net 11.50 lira per liter from August 1. This means that the producer continues to have losses per liter.
