Dubai-based DP World has applied to the Competition Authority for the purchase of the Evyap Port (Evyapport) in Izmit Bay.
According to information on the Competition Authority website, DP World FZE, a 100% subsidiary of DP World Limited, has applied to acquire certain shares and sole control of Evyap Deniz Ä°ÅŸletmeciliÄŸi Lojistik ve Ä°nÅŸaat A.Åž.
Evyapport, the fourth largest private port in Turkey, was founded in 2004 by the Evyap Group, known for its Duru, Arko Men, Arko Nem, Evy Baby, Fax and Activex brands of cleaning and personal care products.
YARIMCA PORT OPENED IN 2016
As an Evyapport aspirant, DP World continues its activities in Turkey with the port of Yarımca.
Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem attended the official opening of DP World Yarımca Port in May 2016; President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the inauguration via video conference.
THEY PURCHASED THE YARIMCA LAND FROM ERDEMIR IN 2005
On the other hand, the Dubai-based port operator DP World completed the acquisition and transfer of the land from the port of Yarımca to Erdemir in 2005 to build a new container terminal.
In the DP World statement at the time, it was said that a terminal would be built in Yarımca and the land was bought for cash from Erdemir for a net price of US$105 million.
