Kamu-Sen Collective Agreement Statement: Hope remains for another spring
The President of Turkey, Kamu-Sen Kahveci, evaluated the result of the public collective agreement.
Turkey Kamu-Sen President Önder Kahveci said: “The collective bargaining table, which has not become a negotiating table despite all the warnings from Turkey Kamu-Sen, has raised the hopes of 6.5 million civil servants and retired officials, and 25 million citizens with their families to fall into another spring.”
Kahveci has published a written statement on the Public Collective Agreement of the seventh validity, whose negotiation process has concluded.
Affirming that the collective agreement generated “disappointment” as in the six previous periods, Kahveci affirmed that the issue of the salary increase will only be brought to the Public Servants Arbitration Board for the years 2024 and 2025, since an agreement was reached in the service branches.
Kahveci stated that there is no possibility of a salary increase other than the government’s proposal by the board of directors, which represents the majority of public employers, and continued as follows:
“The most important reason for this situation is the myopic authoritative confederation that spent 22 days beating water in a mortar and never brought the issues to the table and discussed them point by point.
The collective bargaining table, which did not become a bargaining table despite all the warnings from Türkiye Kamu-Sen, has raised the hopes of 6.5 million civil servants and retired civil servants, and 25 million citizens with their families fall into another spring. “
‘WE WILL HAVE A PLACE IN THE COMMITTEE’
Kahveci stated that most of the 50 general issue titles that were agreed consisted of issues that were decided in the past, and used the following statements:
“As Turkey Kamu-Sen, we will also take our place on the Board of Arbitration and express our views to evaluate the process of the Public Servants Arbitration Board in the most efficient way and add new achievements to public employees.
However, we will once again take note of the myopia of the so-called chartered unions, who destroyed the hopes of millions by wasting the three-week collective bargaining process, sentenced workers and retirees to a raise even below inflation, and turned collective bargaining into a fiasco since 2012.
Unfortunately, as long as the collective bargaining authority and system does not change, our public servants will continue to experience similar results.” (AA)
