The Competition Authority opened an investigation against 4 publishers and 5 private schools
The Competition Board decided to open an investigation against four companies operating in the education sector and five private schools in Kocaeli.
According to the announcement on the Competition Authority’s website, an investigation has been launched against Başkent Ankara Publishing Education Services, Batuksan Education Services and Publishing, Bilfen Publishing and Expert Career Bookstore Publication Distribution Education and Training Services.
The preliminary investigation into the allegations that the companies violated the Competition Protection Law has been completed. Evaluating the information, documents and findings obtained in the preliminary investigation, the Board decided to open an investigation against the distributors.
The investigation stated that the companies’ distributors interfere in the resale prices and impede their passive sales, and impose restrictions on the regions or clients where the distributors can sell the contracted goods or services.
In addition to publishers, private schools were also investigated. The Board also decided to open an investigation against Ali Korkmaz private education institutions, Izmat special education, Murat Yıldırım education services, Küçükaydın private education services and Sungurbey education and commerce operating in Kocaeli.
INVESTIGATION ON CANIN EUROASIA
The Competition Board has completed the preliminary investigation into the allegation that Canon Eurasia Imaging and Ofis Sistemleri AŞ violated the Law on Protection of Competition by determining the resale price of Canon-branded products and decided to open an investigation against the company .
The investigative decisions adopted by the Board do not mean that the companies or associations of companies against which investigations are opened violate the Law and face or are going to be penalized. (AA)
